Just last week, a close childhood friend of mine asked me point blank as to what I think will happen in 2012? I personally don't believe that there will be a major physical Earth catastrophy but I do wonder whether there might be a catastrophy based on human thought such as wars - chaos. I was becoming a bit irritated with the recent doom and gloom movies in the media but, of recent, I just find it entertaining, nothing more. It is because nothing can cease to exist, things (energy) only change their form. I do hope world (our consciousness) will end soon in its current state.
