Meditate For Beginners: Meditate While Walking

Walking around and quieting your mind is easy and relaxing. My favorite moment of the day to walk is early in the morning.
I mean really early. The sounds in the early morning are minimal, no traffic just the wind and the birds.

Calmly observe the environment and become aware of it. I take note of the colors around me, the wind that goes through my hair and the mood my environment and the sounds sets . Begin breathing deeply at first. Take big, steady strides- not necessarily fast, but steady. When you are in a good rhythm stop thinking anything consciously.
I concentrate on my breathing. I inhale for two or three steps then I exhale for the next. If thoughts come to mind I discourage them leading to solo conversation. I just ignore myself. You will soon be only moving and not doing anything else and you will be very relaxed, the same as meditating sitting down. Your pace matches the rhythm of your breathing. The pulse is slow and steady. You thoroughly enjoy nothingness.

Your spirit will send you important messages as if by osmosis; they just occur completely. Not thinking, but as a sensation, a fact a feeling, not as a thought. You may want to use a few words of these messages to repeat. Invariably this phrase touches exactly upon what my spirit and soul know I need to address. Continue, you will know when it is time to return.

People who are enlightened both in body and mind have since long been practicing walking meditation. The two practices go together naturally. Each provides the time and space to connect with your soul.

Silent or with music, anything goes. It is up to you. Choose what works for you best. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Try it all and then decide what works best. But as in normal meditation try to be consistent and try to practice walking meditation every day. Also try to meditate at the same time every day this will more easy grow into a daily habit without much effort.
